Welcome to the big picture!

The Great Western Ambulance Branch owes its strength to  600 members - ambulance crews, paramedics, nurses, ECPs, control staff, 999  dispatchers, headquarters, admin and support staff - who have chosen to join UNISON to work collectively in pursuit of the pay and terms & conditions all ambulance service staff deserve.

We also represent UNISON members who work for NHS Direct and private ambulance companies in the Avon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire area, as well as students training for a prehospital career.

The Branch was commended at a review by UNISON.  Not only do we have a greater proportion of UNISON members than any other workplace in the south west, but we deal with more issues per member than any other branch.

If you are not a member yet, join us today and be part of an even stronger branch, fighting in UNISON with your colleagues for a better ambulance service for all.  For details of our national and local campaigns, please click here.

Use this website to keep up to date with ongoing activities and negotiations.  This website will minimise rumour and misinformation – and enable you to have more understanding of and involvement in UNISON's everyday activities. We are optimistic that this will enhance mutual appreciation and respect for all.

Only if we work together will we be able to put the "great" into the Great Western Ambulance Service.
